Duhallow timed their finish to perfection to edge a 0-16 to 0-15 victory against Valley Rovers and moved into the semi-finals of the Cork senior football championship.
Last year’s beaten finalists outscored their opponents by 0-5 to 0-1 in the closing four minutes at Pairc Ui Rinn, where injury-time points from Daniel Buckley and Jerry O’Connor got them over the finish line.
The sides couldn’t be separated after the first 30 minutes of this thrilling quarter-final clash and points early in the restart from Duhallow's Mark Ellis ensured the teams stayed even with 20 minutes to go.
Valley Rovers gained the upper hand again after the water break, as Fiachra Lynch’s third unanswered point had them 0-14 to 0-11 in front come the 51st minute.
From there Duhallow dug their deepest as sub Jerry O’Connor rifled one over to start the run of scores that saw Paul Walsh halve the deficit and veteran Donncha O’Connor level the game for the ninth time.
Sub Darragh Moynihan shot the lead point and Jerry O’Connor increased it to two prior to John Cottrell free’s at the other end putting the pressure on until the finish for Padraig Kearns’ men.
Duhallow must now wait to learn their semi-final opponents after two of the weekend’s other quarter-finals in the Rebel County were postponed due to concerns over Covid-19.
