Goals in either half from Rory O'Connor and Diarmuid O'Keeffe ensured that Wexford continued their winning start to Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League, beating Clare by 2-20 to 1-20 at Cusack Park in Ennis.

With 2,855 in attendance this afternoon, O'Connor (1-4) and older brother Jack (0-9, seven frees) registered 1-13 between them for the visitors, who remain tied at the top of table with Galway and Cork on four points apiece.

Clare will rue some wild shooting, particularly in the first-half with the breeze at their backs.

The sides were evenly matched early on then Wexford enjoyed a purple patch, with Rory O'Connor's hitting 1-1 in succession before Mark Rodgers ended 16 scoreless minutes for the Banner County.

The Clare goal came courtesy of Shane Meehan on 30 minutes after Mark Fanning produced a brilliant double save to deny John Conlon as they trailed 1-9 to 1-7 at the half hour mark.

Points by Paddy Donnellan and Mark Rodgers made it 1-9 apiece three minutes after the restart and the sides were level on three further occasions.

The pendulum swung back in Wexford favour, however, when O'Keeffe rifled a shot to the net in the 64th minute after being teed up by his fellow St Anne's clubman Liam Og McGovern.
