Clare GAA have handed senior hurling manager Brian Lohan a fresh three-year term.

Following a county board meeting tonight, it was confirmed that the two-time All-Ireland winner's tenure will stretch into 2024.

The Wolfe Tones na Sionna man has been in charge of his native county for the past two seasons having taken over from Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor in October 2019.

After beating Waterford in the Munster SHC opener and then losing to Tipperary in the provincial semi-final, Clare bowed out of the 2021 All-Ireland championship at the hands of eventual finalists Cork in the second round of qualifiers.

Lohan's hand for next year could be strengthened by the return to availability of key attacking duo Peter Duggan and Shane O'Donnell.

"At a meeting of the Clare County Board officers it was unanimously agreed that Brian Lohan be offered a new three year term as Senior Hurling manager," a Clare GAA statement reads.

"This recommendation has to be approved by a full meeting of Clare County Board. Brian Lohan is aware of this recommendation."
