Members Gym
The completion of a state of the art member’s gym was one of the huge achievements of 2021, especially as it involved the great support of local businesses and the selfless and voluntary work of players and committee members, and player fundraising. We are indebted to the following local companies - Link Credit Union Kingscourt ; David Weldon of Paramount Doors for the supply and fit of doors; Kingspan Insulation for supplying indoor insulation; Gyproc Ireland, O’Reilly Concrete and Barry O’Reilly for the blocks; Alan Clarke (Toasty) ATC Building Surveying & Engineering; Seanie Farrelly and RS Security; Philly Smith plumbing; Niall Smith and Niall Smith Architects; Fleetwood Paint; Robbie Rowntree for the wiring; Séamus Sexton and Bennie Bennett (blocklayers) Thomas and Padraig Cunningham from Thomas Cunningham Plastering; Tony Maguire who fitted out the gym with equipment. A special mention to the following who worked tirelessly and willingly gave up their time- Peter Corrigan and Cathal McKeon (painters), Seán Burke, Richie Curtis, Kevin Curtis, Padráig Faulkner, Cian Shekleton, Ciarán Dermody, James Farrelly, Paddy Farrelly, John Oates, Ryan Kennedy, Noel McIntyre, Ryan Sexton. Big thanks to players and committee members Philly Tinnelly and Micheál Gargan who drove and co-ordinated the project, and to Mossy Malone, Eva Rowntree, David Donagh, Michael Crosby and Noel Gaynor who worked on sponsorship. Thanks to artist Colin Wood who was commissioned to draw our crest on the interior wall. The gym is a great addition to our facilities and we can be all the more proud of the achievement as it was built by our members with the support of our community.

End of Year
This brings us to the last Club Notes of 2021. Unfortunately we are still in a state of uncertainty and fear but managed to support each other during the year through sheer hard work and dedication! A few highlights of 2021 include player/committee effort on building the fine gym and we acknowledge the local business’ that were very generous with donations and support; player fundraising squares for the Ulster Final and All Ireland Final; Pieta Darkness into Light walk in May, ladies, senior men and juvenile successes of which there were many, and last but definitely not least, the fantastic news that Padraig Faulkner received a PWC Allstar for 2020 togging out as no 3! This was tremendous news for our club and gave everyone a great lift, and was well deserved by Pádraig for his performance in the 2020 league and championship campaign. A few attempts were made to organize a presentation to Padraig from the Club. Unfortunately COVID got in the way but luckily we know that Padraig, above all, would understand the need to protect our members and community. Plans are still in the pipeline le cúnamh Dé. There are plenty of exciting plans for 2022 and for sure this time next year COVID will be but a distant memory. This PRO is moving on after six very enjoyable years and wishes the incoming PRO the best of luck in what is becoming one of the most important officer positions in the Club. Nollaig shona daoibh go léir!
