On a busy day of club action yesterday, there was one story in particular that caught the eye.

Caoimhan McGovern made his Cavan senior debut in 2020 and started for Mickey Graham's men in their Allianz Football League Division 3 North clash against Fermanagh in May of this year, scoring two points.

19-year-old Caoimhan was diagnosed with Stage Two Lymphoma cancer back in July but just three months later his remarkable recovery saw him come off the bench to help his beloved club Shannon Gaels to a narrow 0-16 to 0-15 victory against Mountnugent in the Cavan JFC quarter-final.

In a show of support for Caoimhan, his friends and Shannon Gaels teammates recently took part in a 'Shave or Dye' fundraiser, with over €40,000 so far raised for the Sligo and Cavan Oncology day wards.
