Kingscourt Stars club notes

January 11, 2021

New Year

Athbhliain faoi mhaise do gach duine! Not the start that we hoped for but with a huge collective effort we should see light at the end of the tunnel before the Summer. Because of lockdown, our playing fields are out of bounds. Please respect the guidelines as set out by our government until at least the end of this month.

New Gym

0ver the Christmas holidays work commenced on the building of a new club gym. This is a club led project, labour is voluntary and includes a number of our senior players. A number of local businesses have been very generous with their help.  Committee member Seamus Sexton is co ordinating the block laying - the blocks were kindly donated by 0’Reilly Concrete .   We would like to thank Kingspan Global, Paramount Doors, Frazers, Gyproc Ireland, O’Reilly Concrete for the help. Thanks to Robert our caretaker, Seamus Sexton, who can fairly throw up the blocks, the senior lads who worked very hard under the watchful eye of committee member/senior player Micheál Gargan, and committee member/senior player Philly Tinnelly. Work is presently suspended and  will re commence after lockdown!

Registrations 2021

Reminder that registrations for 2021 are now open. Anyone who registered online in 2020 will get a reminder. Senior players are strongly urged to take out their own personal insurance, and parents are advised to insure their children through the school insurance scheme, which provides excellent 24 hour insurance. Remember there is no GAA Insurance Policy. It is a GAA Injury Benefit Fund. The Injury Fund does not seek to fully compensate but to supplement other covers such as Private Health Insurance, National Health Insurance, Personal Accident Cover, Employment benefit covers, Income Payment protection covers. The playing of our national games involves the risk of Injury and it is each individual registered player’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the terms and benefits of the GAA Injury Benefit Fund. The full policy may be accessed on www.kingscourtstars.gaa.ie under Resources and Links, and all players and parents are urged to read it! All paid up members must be registered with the GAA before end of March 2021and this is a huge job at the beginning of each year, especially this year as the GAA have introduced a new system which takes a lot of time to become familiar with. Our juvenile secretary, Sharon Shiels, spends endless hours making sure each juvenile and family are correctly on the system, while our PRO Fiona Burke, secretary Agnes Clarke and registrar Micheál Gargan look after players and adults.
