Galway Camogie has decided to postpone its upcoming All-Ireland medals presentation and Club Awards as a mark of respect to Kate Moran and Eimear Ni Chonghaile, who both passed away recently.
Kate Moran, who would have turned 21 this week, died tragically at University Hospital Galway last Tuesday after sustaining a head injury while playing for her club Athenry in a league match in Ardrahan the day before.
"After consultation with others, the decision has been made to postpone the presentations of All Ireland Medals and Clubs Awards to a later date," Galway Camogie said in a statement last night.
"This has been done as a mark of respect to Kate Moran (Athenry) and Eimear Ni Chonghaile (Cois Fharraige). Two camogie players who sadly passed away recently.
"Thanks to all the clubs who came out in their numbers to support both families in these sad times.
"When a new date is finalised clubs will be informed and please inform All Club Stars in your club.
"May their gentle souls rest in Peace."
