Best of Luck:

Kilcormac/Killoughey Camogie Club would like to wish our 2020 Minor Team and their mentors the very best of luck in their final on Friday evening against Birr. We are delighted the girls are getting the opportunity to contest the final and we wish them all the best on the night. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, only 100 people will be able to gain entry and details on tickets will be issued shortly so keep an eye on our social media platforms for more information.

Fundraiser:

Our fundraising raffle has now come to an end and we are delighted to say we exceeded our target and that is thanks to all the support we received both locally and further afield. As a club, our aim is to provide for our players to the highest standards to ensure they are looked after both socially and physically and that camogie is an enjoyable pastime for them to partake in. The funds raised will go towards all the day to day expenses of running our club and supporting our teams and players.

A special mention must go to our sponsors Energy Superstore, Lumcloon Energy, Townmore Construction, J Grennan & Sons, Harmony Solar, Hiredepot, Gray Cunniffe Flaherty Insurance Brokers and Brian and Annette Meacle, without whom we couldn't have achieved what we did.

Thanks also to our hard working committee who do trojan work behind the scenes every week. It is all much appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone who bought a ticket and for your continued, loyal support to Kilcormac/Killoughey Camogie Club.

Match Report:

Kilcormac/Killoughey Seniors lined out for their final league game in Mountbolus on Saturday evening against a Shinrone team that had a nice blend of experience and youth. Kilcormac/Killoughey fielded a relatively young team owing to the absence of minor players due to their upcoming final as well as their senior county players but nevertheless gave a great account of themselves and were very competitive for large patches of the game.

Kilcormac/Killoughey got the opening score of the game with a pointed free from Debbie Flynn but this was answered almost immediately by a Shinrone goal down the other end of the field. Shinrone pushed on and got the next two points, one from the vastly experienced Marion Crean, before Debbie Flynn pointed again from a free. Shinrone tacked on one more point leaving the score at 1-3 to 0-2 points at the first half water break.

The second quarter proved to be the decisive quarter of the match with Shinrone outscoring Kilcormac/Killoughey by 1-6 to 0-1 point. Kelly Sammon was dangerous upfront for Shinrone during this period while Anna Doherty finished off a well worked point for the home side. The half-time score stood at 2-9 to 0-3 in favour of Shinrone.

To their credit, the Kilcormac/Killoughey girls roused themselves for the second half and continued to battle honestly all over the pitch. Points from Debbie Flynn, Sarah Guinan and Eadaoin Kilmartin as well as a goal from Ruth Hennessy meant Kilcormac/Killoughey finished the game very strongly and outscored the visitors by 1-5 to 1-3 in the second half.

Well done to the girls on a very competitive league campaign and we wish them all the best in the upcoming senior championship.
