Kilkenny manager Brian Cody was happy with his team’s application and honesty as they trounced Clare at Croke Park today to move into the 17th All-Ireland SHC final of his tenure.

The Cats blew away the Banner men with a 2-26 to 0-20 victory to set-up a date with either Limerick or Galway on July 17th when the coveted Liam McCarthy Cup will be up for grabs.

Speaking to RTE Sport after the game, Cody said his side are now where every team wants to be.

"We were in a very good position at half time, the first-half performance was very, very good," stated the 11-time All-Ireland winning boss.

"The second-half performance probably dipped a bit and that tends to happen in games like that. I wouldn't have an ounce of criticism for the team, I thought their application and their honesty and their intent was there."

He added: "We’re back in the in the final and that was the big prize for today.

"We were here the last two years and we just didn’t get there so we’re in the All-Ireland final now again and that’s obviously where every team wants to be."
