The first two Galway SFC semi-finalists were decided yesterday with two familiar faces making it through to the last four.

Minus the services of veteran forward Gary Sice and the Burke brothers, Ian and Daithi, All-Ireland club champions Corofin ensured their place into the penultimate stage for the fourteenth successive season courtesy of a 1-12 to 0-8 win against Milltown in Tuam.

Liam Silke continued his habit of scoring goals for Kevin O'Brien's charges to leave them perched on a 1-7 to 0-3 half-time lead.

The second game at St Jarlath's Park was a much tighter affair, with last year's beaten finalists Mountbellew-Moylough requiring extra-time to get past Annaghdown after Damien Comer's 67th minute goal levelled it at 1-10 apiece at the full-time whistle.

But Mountbellew dusted themselves down in extra-time and hammered home three goals from Eoin Finnerty, Paul Donnellan and James Foley to win by five points in the end, 4-12 to 2-13.
