Ramor United all but sealed their place into the knock-outs stages of the Cavan senior football championship earlier today by handing Shercock a 1-15 to 1-10 defeat in Killinkere.

Sean McEvoy’s goal after just two minutes at Jim Smith Park saw the Virginia men into a lead they’d never relinquish, as they went on to win by five points leaving them with the same tally on the SFC table with one round remaining.

Veteran Paddy McNamee, Enda Maguire, Simon Cadden and James Brady all shot points that steered Ramor towards a 1-8 to 0-6 lead at the interval.

Cadden and Mark Magee made it a seven-point game after four minutes of the resumption and the 2016 champions saw out the victory from there, shipping a goal in the sixth minute of injury-time after a rebounded penalty was converted by the Monaghan border men for consolation only.

Later in the day, Mullahoran made it back-to-back wins in the race for the Oliver Plunkett Cup after edging out Killygarry by 0-11 to 0-10 at Kingspan Breffni.

The sides couldn’t be separated during the opening 30 minutes in Cavan Town, as the scoreboard read 0-5 apiece at half-time.

Oisin Brady (free) and Darragh Gannon sailed over scores that created a two-point gap for Killygarry prior to brothers Paul and Philip Brady firing points at the other end that outweighed one from Mark McDermott in the 45th minute.

Cormac O’Reilly and Enda O’Reilly (free) added two more to erase Enda Gallen’s effort and the Dreadnoughts would hit the front on 56 minutes when Cormac McKeogh broke through to lash over their 10th point of the night.

Gavin Brady doubled the advantage a minute later and, while the Crubany side got one back through county man Conor Smith in the 63rd minute, they’d finish one short in the end.

Elsewhere in the Breffni County, Cuchulainns put a foot into the quarter-finals of the intermediate championship by seeing off Arva on a 0-16 to 2-6 scoreline while a late point from Ryan Connolly saw Drumlane snatch a 2-11 to 1-14 draw against Drumgoon in Ballyhaise.

In the junior section, Knockbride continued their winning ways by handing Kildallan a 2-15 to 3-8 defeat at Kingspan Breffni while Kill Shamrocks were 1-12 to 0-4 winners over Maghera and Shannon Gaels edged a 1-11 to 1-9 victory against Drumalee in Belturbet.

Yesterday, Killeshandra scored their second win on the bounce in the intermediate championship by defeating Ballymachugh (0-12 to 0-10) and Denn showed impressive form in the junior championship by dismantling Swanlinbar at Kingspan Breffni with a 3-16 to 0-6 rout.
