Carlow man Padraig Amond steps up to take the winning penalty for Newport County in their famous FA Cup third round victory over Leicester City.

A year after his goal almost knocked Spurs out of the FA Cup, Padraig Amond went one better by scoring the winning goal from a penalty for Newport County in their famous third round victory over Leicester City yesterday.

The former Carlow hurler held his nerve to convert an 85th minute penalty as the League Two outfit from South Wales triumphed 2-1 and, in doing so, caused one of the biggest FA Cup shocks of all-time to send the 2016 Premier League champions packing.

Amond played for Carlow against Kilkenny in the 2006 Leinster minor hurling final before embarking on what's turning out to be a successful professional soccer career.
