Westmeath's Ronan O'Toole and Antrim's Conal Cunning.

Ronan O'Toole and Conal Cunning were named Tailteann Cup and Joe McDonagh Cup Player of the Year, respectively, at a gala awards ceremony in Croke Park last night.

O'Toole was rewarded for his inspirational form this year, as he helped the Westmeath footballers win the inaugural Tailteann Cup. The Lake County playmaker fired 0-12 from play in four matches, rounding off a memorable season with a man-of-the-match performance in the final against Cavan.

The award is more recognition for the St Loman's star as he was selected on the first ever Tailteann Cup Team of the Year alongside Jack Smith, Kevin Maguire, Ronan Wallace and clubmates Sam McCartan and John Heslin.

Antrim hurler Cunning was also acknowledged for his role in helping his county to their second Joe McDonagh Cup title in three years. The Dunloy Cuchullains clubman was outstanding over the course of the campaign, scoring 2-55.

Cunning has been named corner-forward in the Joe McDonagh Team of the Year which includes seven players from champions Antrim, who are represented in every line of the field.
