Under 8s and 10s
Parnell's under 8s and 10s competed in the Blitz hosted by St Kiernans in Mill Hill on Saturday. We were fortunate enough to be able to provide 2 Under 8 teams and 2 under 10 teams all of whom performed well and gave it their all.
Games were played against St Kiernans, TCG, St Clarets and Harlesden Harps and some great displays of football were shown. Well done to some of our new recruits Sam Langan, Amy Brown and James Keegan all of whom made their debut for Parnell's.
Under 12s
The Under 12s participated in the Blitz hosted by North London Shamrocks on Sunday. With games against St Kiernans, and North London Shamrocks. We fielded 2 teams and some fantastic performances were shown. Well done to Cormac Rowe and Daniel Nagle on their debut
Under 14s
Parnells 7-10 St Kiernans 2-6…..Parnell's win in style
Parnells coasted through to the semi final of the London Championship following a high scoring win over St Kiernan's at Northwick Park. This was the second time both teams have met in the space of 5 days after Parnells had won the league encounter earlier in week by a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-3. The weather conditions however were a lot better today compared to the first encounter with ideal conditions for playing football.
Parnells got off to a bright start with a brace of points scored by Gallen, Rice, Lally and O Donoghue within the first 10 minutes. Play was fiercely contested around the middle of the park with the St Kiernans midfield becoming dominant as the game went on which culminated in two fine points by St Kiernans. Rice was by far the sharpest of the Parnells forward line, first to the ball each time and kicking some fantastic scores in to the bargain. St Kiernans were now on top in midfield and only for some inaccuracy in front of goal should have been a lot closer at this stage however a magic spell from Parnells 10 minutes before half time became the game changer. This 10 minute spell produced 3-1, a point from Curran and goals from Sheridan, O Donoghue and the rampant Rice, O Donoghues goal was an exceptional solo effort in that he won the ball 40 yards from goal and scythed his way through the Kiernans defence before placing the ball in the bottom left corner. The Half time score was 3-7 to 0-2.
St Kiernans started the second half the brightest and again through poor shooting missed a number of opportunities however after some great 'route 1' football out of defence by Parnells, Logan to McNamara to Curran to Maher and the ball was in the back of the net. Kiernans however never gave up and went straight down the field and scored a goal of their own after some fine inter play. Further scores were exchanged by both sides and then goals from Lynch,Sheridan and Rice put the game out of Kiernans reach.
The scoreline could be a little bit flattering to Parnells in that St Kiernans battled hard all afternoon and indeed deserved more if their forwards could have taken some of the opportunities that came their way. However Parnells were rampant at times and took their opportunities well as the score line indicates, McGarry in goal had a good afternoon, Logan at Full back and when he moved to midfield was commanding at times, Lally at Centre back was decisive in everything he did, O Donoghue battled hard in Midfield and the pick of the forwards was Rice. Rice was exceptional and by far the sharpest player on the field today bagging 2-5 in to the bargain.
Well done to young Ciaran McNamara (Tara) who refereed the game today as it was an excellent performance.
Good luck to the Under 13s who will be travelling to Belmullet in Mayo next weekend. With games organised against Belmullet, Kiltane, Kilcommon and Burrishoole it should be a busy weekend. Thank you to our sponsors for the trip Doran Brothers and Kilker Projects.
