Roscommon may have had a scare in New York, but their supporters' club couldn't have asked for a better weekend as they raised over €300,000.

While Roscommon were pushed all the way in the provincial opener by the home side, Club Rossie used the weekend as a fundraising event and it turned out to be a huge success.

A corporate fundraiser was held last Thursday evening and a meet and greet was held the following evening in Rosie O'Grady's bar in Manhattan.

Club Rossie chairman David O'Connor revealed to the Roscommon Herald that the weekend had been a huge success on the financial front.

"We've over €300,000 raised. Hopefully that it will be an ongoing figure as we're waiting for people to get back to us and of course we're still talking to other people.

"It was a fantastic night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully it's the start of big things to come on the financial front for Roscommon."
