Pennine League Finals weekend
19 May 2012
This Sunday is the first chance for teams to pick up silverware for the season with the finals of the Pennine league to be decided. Old Bedians in Manchester will play host to a double header of finals with the division 1 and 2 finals taking place. The plate final will take place up at Beeston in Leeds.
First up is an all Yorkshire tie in the Pennine plate final with St Benedicts from Division 1 taking on Division 2 side Young Irelands. This game throws in at 1pm and will no doubt be a very close encounter between the two Leeds rivals.
Next up will see Hugh O'Neills take on Oisins for the Division 2 title. Oisins have a 100% record so far and will go in as favourites for the tie. However Hugh O'Neills who finished 3rd in the league stage caused one upset already by putting out Wolfe Tones in the semi final and no doubt will be out to prove another point this Sunday. This game is up first at Old Bedians with a throw in time of 1:30pm.
The Division 1 final will also be taking place at Old Bedians with a 3pm throw in time. With the defending champions Cu-chulainns already out both St Peters and John Mitchels will battle it out to take the division 1 honours. This is a mouth watering tie and will no doubt be a pulsating game right from the off. Both could not be separated at the league stages one week ago after a 1-8 to 1-8 draw. However one team will come out on top on Sunday and take the first cup of the season.
This Sunday is set up for a great day of football so get down early and support the teams. Old Bedians will have the clubhouse open serving food and drink throughout the day.
