Kiltale's Cillian O'Sullivan beats Padraig Geoghegan (Kildalkey) to the ball as Anthony Forde looks on during the Division 1 FL Final at Dunganny

Kiltale 1-15 Kildalkey 0-10

Kiltale went out to defend their league title last Saturday in Dungany were conditions were testing with heavy ground and a gale blowing across the field towards the main road.

The 4 in a row Jubilee Cup champions played into the cross wind in the first half. Cillian O'Sullivan was unlucky not to have 2 goals in the opening ten minutes.

Puck outs that were hanging in the wind were hard to win for the Kiltale forwards but when possession needed to be won up stepped Jack Regan, James Kelly, Mark O'Sullivan and Cathal McCabe to give Kiltale a platform to get scores on the board.

The Kiltale rearguard stood firm marshalled by Philip Garvey and the evergreen Stephen Donoghue.

Peter Durnin beats Kildalkey keeper Paul Fagan for the games only goal

Stephen showed all his experience by mentoring his two young wing backs Adam Murphy and Conor Shiren who broke up numerous Kildalkey attacks.

Some great free taking by Jack Regan and points from Anthony Forde, Cathal McCabe and Cillian O'Sullivan give Kiltale a hold on the game but goals win games and Peter Durnin who started midfield turned up in the full forward line and gave Paul Fagan no chance with a great finish.

Kiltale went in at half time after playing against the wind leading 1-7 to Kildalkey 0-8.

The second half was all Kiltale and the only concern for them was the amount of scores they missed.

Kildalkey struggled to win position and when Kiltale pushed up on their puckouts it created huge problems for the village men.

The Kiltale half back line along with Anthony Donnelly and Ciaran Ennis cut out any Kildalkey threat and they were limited to 3 pointed frees in the second half.

The now traditional soaking for the winning captain

Padraig Kelly and Anthony Forde began to dominate around midfield and up front James Kelly, Jack Regan, Cathal McCabe and Cillian O'Sullivan got some great scores in difficult conditions

This was a great result for Kiltale on the run in to Leinster campaign without twins Ronan and Ross Ryan and Iarla Hughes who have big day out with Summerhill in Navan next weekend.
