Meath Hill's Mark Tully

Meath Hill 0-14  Glen Emmets (Louth) 0-11

Meath Hill defeated the Glen Emmets of Louth in Drogheda in their first ever outing in the AIB Leinster Club Junior Championship. After a 10 am field inspection the game was giving the all clear for the 1:30 throw in.

Meath Hill claimed the first score of the game through an Ian Malone free before Glen Emmets levelled after 6 minutes. The Hill scored two more points through Tommy Rooney and Pierce McGrath, which was quickly followed by a point from the Glen's to make it 3 points to 2. The Hill's determination and hard work in producing turnovers helped them to the next four points, two more from Pierce McGrath and one each for Chris and Jason Yorke. The Hill now leading by 0-07 to 0-02. The Glen's outscored the Hill 3 to 1 before the break to narrow the gap.

Half Time: Meath Hill 0-08 Glen Emmets 0-05

A Malone free straight after the restart extended the Hill's lead. Mark Tully replaced Michael McCabe shortly after the restart. Glen Emmet's then had Ronan Carr black carded after bringing down James Mooney who looked straight through on goal. In very hard conditions the game was being played at a hectic pace and both teams shared the next four scores. The Hill started to loose momentum slightly and a five point lead became the minimum.

Meath Hill introduced Tomás Smith for Ian Malone on 52 minutes and the crowd along with his introduction helped inspire life back into the Hill. Mark Tully scored the last two points, the last coming from a close in free in the 67th minute to leave the final score, Meath Hill 0-14  Glen Emmets 0-11.

Meath Hill march on to AIB Leinster Club Junior Championship Semi Final after a very entertaining game in what was a very impressive team performance.
