Laochra Na Mi 1916

Coiste na Mi will hold a commemorative event, 'Laochra na Mi' prior to the hoganstand.com Meath County Final between Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Simonstown Gaels.

'Laochra na Mi' will mark the Centenary of the Easter Rising in 1916 and will honour the 4 Meathmen who died while participating, James Fox (Drumree), Philip Clarke (Rossin), Thomas Allen (Longwood), James McCormack (Gormanstown)

The event will take place immediately after the Minor Final and will consist of the following...

1. Parade of each GAA club in Meath, represented by the captain. (Football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football and Handball)

The Parade will be led by Maggie Higgins of Kilskyre, niece of Easter Rising participant and poet Brian O'Higgins.

2. Participation by the Battle of Ashbourne Centenary Commemoration Committee.

3. Unveiling of Plaque by Coiste na Mi Chairman Conor Tormey

4. Reading of Proclamation

5. Laying of Wreath by Sean Boylan, son of Sean Boylan, IRB leader in 1916. 

6. Salute by the Battle of Ashbourne Centenary Commemoration Committee.

7. Last Post and Reveille.

Assembly for the Parade will be at 1.00 at the Navan O'Mahonys Clubhouse and the Parade will commemce at 1.45.

Participants will be togged out in Club colours and will each carry their club flag.
