Moynalty 1-11 Gaeil Colmcille 1-8
The Moynalty and Gaeil Colmcille game in the quarter final of the JBFC in Ballinlough on Saturday evening was in doubt for a time due to a horrendous down pour just before the throw in, which demanded a pitch inspection. Referee Peter Sheridan deemed the pitch ok, but delayed the start of the match by 30 minutes to allow it to dry out.
Gaeil Colmcille got the scoreboard working but midway through the opening half Moynalty led 0-4 to 0-2 with fine points from Paul Lynch (3) and Cathal Reilly. The remainder of the half belonged to the town team and they went in at the break 1-5 to 0-4 in front.
Gaeil Colmcille stretched their lead with the first point of the second half but a brace from Paddy Byrne narrowed the gap to a goal.
The town side scored their eighth point, before Moynalty went on a end of game scoring spree with points from Paddy Byrne, Paul Lynch, Stephen Blackburn (2) to level matters at 1-08 to 0-11 with just a couple of minutes to play.
But out of the blue Anthony Nevin rose like a lark to punch home a match winning goal with almost the last play of the game.
Moynalty will take on Trim in the semi final.
