FL Div 2: 'Lough' denied in injury time

Ballinlough were denied a share of the spoils when Blackhall Gaels pointed in injury time in this entertaining All County League Division 2 clash in Ballinlough.

Both teams were short key players but The Gaels will be the happier of the two in what was a dress rehearsal for the next round of the hoganstand.com senior football championship.

The home team led 1-7 to 0-7 at the break. Full forward Kevin Devine got the games only goal midway through the half fisting home a high ball in to the square. Corner forward Colm Mallen was giving the visitors all sorts of problems and he chipped in with three first half points. Former County player Peadar Byrne got on the score sheet twice but Blackhall kept in touch with some excellent scores from Tadgh Brosnan and Sean Whelan.

With 45 minutes gone on the clock Ballinlough held a 1-11 to 0-10 lead and looked set to pick up their third league win but to their credit Blackhall kept plugging away and were rewarded with some fine points. 

Devines goal still separated the team with eight minutes left. Sean Whelan narrowed the gap to the minimum with normal time up but in the four minutes of injury time Brosnan levelled matters and Graham Dillon sent over the winner. 

Blackhall move on to six points from five outings while its back to the drawing board for Ballinlough with five points from a possible ten.
