At the February meeting of the Meath County Committee Slane delegate Peter Mooney proposed that the adoption of the new championships format be revisited with clarification to be sought from Central Council.

A number of junior clubs have expressed dissatisfaction over the number of teams which would be relegated under the system passed to be brought into force in 2017.

After Brendan Cummins seconded the proposal, secretary Francis Flynn said that clarification on the matter will be sought before the start of the 2017 championships.

While most of the discontent about the new format appears to be rumbling within the ranks of junior clubs, chairman Conor Tormey said that possible future discussions could also affect senior and intermediate clubs.

Hurling Committee chairman TJ Reilly said that the county senior hurling team was happy to participate in last month's Walsh Cup competition. One win from three outings was gained and now the players are looking forward to the National League campaign.

Speaking at the County Committee meeting on Monday night, Cathal Seoige said that Paddy participated in Scor competitions in recent years and the question time will be held in the Navan O'Mahonys centre on March 1st.

The late Paddy Meegan, a star forward on Meath's All-Ireland SFC triumphs in 1949 and '54, is being honoured with a cup named in his honour for a forthcoming county inter-club question time competition to be held next month.
