Dee McCarthy has decided not to seek another term as Louth senior hurling manager.

The Drogheda man completed his three years in charge of the Wee County by leading them to Lory Meagher Cup success in June followed by a comprehensive play-off victory over Fermanagh to secure promotion to the Nicky Rackard Cup for 2017.

Between league and champioship, Louth won their last eight matches with McCarthy in charge, including a sensational All-Ireland final victory over Sligo at Croke Park, where they netted three times in the last three minutes to seal the most dramatic of wins.

Louth County Board have confirmed the departure on their website: "Louth GAA extends our sincerest appreciation to Dee, his selectors John Murphy, Joe Power and Kieran Rohan for their efforts, time and commitment and wish them every success in their future endeavours. Louth GAA will now embark on a process to appoint a successor."
