That's it from us. Be sure to join us for our Live Sunday Match Tracker tomorrow afternoon when there'll be plenty more championship action.
The fight in Kilkenny in the second-half of normal time was something to behold but they were outmatched in the added periods and the Deise men deservedly advance into the quarter-finals.
Yet another Semple Stadium classic and in the end it was Derek McGrath's men that proved their credentials with extra time goals from Barron and Shanahan.
Full-time (AET): Waterford 4-23 Kilkenny 2-22
It's all over! Waterford have their first championship win over Kilkenny since 1959 while Brian Cody is handed his first ever qualifier defeat. What a game!
Shanahan with a beauty as Kilkenny fans make their way out the turnstiles.
Hawkeye shows us that Reid's shot was deflected over. The Cats are really fighting the clock now though.
Reid goes for goal from 21 metres out and it's deflected away. The game's up for Kilkenny here.
Liam Blanchfield wins a Kilkenny free but there's no room to get a goal with a sea of white jerseys in front of goal.
Three minutes left...
Shanahan makes it 4-21 to 2-21.
Tommy Ryan lashes over a superb Waterford score to put the difference at five.
Waterford sub: Darragh Fives for Noel Connors
Reid sails over another Kilkenny free but they need goals now or it's all over. Patrick Curran is off for Waterford and Colin Dunford is on.
GOAL FOR WATERFORD!
Maurice Shanahan makes it 4-19 to 2-19 and that could well be it.
Mark Bergin is in for Kilkenny and Chris Bolger is off.
Reid (free) makes it a three-point game in the early stages of the resumption.
Extra time has resumed.
Barron's effort was one of those sensational solo ones but can the Deise men hang on for their first championship win over the Cats in 58 years?
Half-time (extra time): Waterford 3-19 Kilkenny 2-18
Barron's brilliant finish has the Deise men back on top but this Kilkenny side can't be written off. Let's hope for more of the same in the second-half.
GOAL FOR WATERFORD!
Barron dummies past Joe Lyng and buries a low finish beyond Murphy in the Kilkenny goal.
