James Daly's Ulster were crowned MMI Ladies interprovincial football champions for a fifth successive year today.

Captained by Armagh's Caroline O'Hanlon, Ulster swept to a 4-7 to 0-11 final victory over Connacht in Kinnegad.

Donegal star Yvonne McMonagle kicked the opening score of the game for Ulster and while Leitrim's Áine Tighe levelled matters for Connacht, Daly's charges took over from there.

McMonagle's penalty goal opened up a 1-3 to 0-1 advantage and after Cavan star Aisling Doonan kicked a point, Monaghan ace Ciara McAnespie bagged a second Ulster goal.

At half-time, Ulster were 2-6 to 0-3 clear, with McMonagle accounting for half of that tally, and the holders pushed on from there.

Meghan Glynn and Tighe grabbed early second half points for Connacht but any faint hopes of a revival were snuffed out by McMonagle, who cracked home a brilliant goal, her second and Ulster's third.

Soon after, Armagh's Lauren McConville notched Ulster's fourth goal and it was a cruise from there until full-time for the champions, guided by former Armagh boss Daly.

Munster, captained by Waterford's Linda Wall, were crowned MMI interprovincial shield champions after defeating Leinster by 3-10 to 2-2 in the final.
