Ladies Feis Cup: Big win for St. Michaels
19 July 2012
St. Michaels 6-9
Played in Walterstown
Half time St. Michaels 3-2, Walterstown 0-3.
St. Michaels ladies produced a goal-den performance in this Feis Cup match as they registered six in their comprehensive victory in Walterstown on Monday evening last
Both sides made very slow starts with St. Michaels only registering one score in the first 12 minutes of play albeit a goal after four minutes from Sinead McCormack, Walterstown opened their scoring on three minutes with a point but could only muster two more points for the remainder of the opening half on 17 and 21 minutes. Fiona Nevin and Megan O'Brien raised two more green flags for the winners with Sinead McCormack and Fiona Nevin finishing the half off with a point apiece to put St. Michaels 3-2 to 0-3 ahead at the break.
It was all St. Michaels in the second period with great displays from Laura Mulvaney, Mary Clinton, Megan O'Brien, Aisleen Regan and Sinead Mc Cormack to name but a few. In fairness to Walterstown they battled on to the end but the mountain they had to climb became too high and the visitors finished the half scoring at will.
