New Kilkenny under-21 manager Eddie Brennan has received a glowing endorsement from Brian Cody.

Brennan was named the new under-21 manager a couple of weeks ago and he will have Cody as part of his backroom team as the Cats look to end a long absence without silverware at this level.

Cody has been the most successful manager in the history of hurling, and when he talks people listen, so for him to give Brennan his back is something that needs to be taken heed of.

Speaking to the Kilkenny People he said: "Eddie knows what it takes to be successful at inter-county level. He knows the work it takes to be successful.

"During his career he developed physically. He developed in every single way. He has a lot to contribute and I know he is looking forward to the challenge.

"If lads listen to him, they won't go too far wrong. They wouldn't be very clever if they didn't listen. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone."
