WIT manager Colm Bonnar was fulsome in his praise Austin Gleeson's individual performance following yesterday's Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final victory over Cork IT.

The Mount Sion man finished with 1-6 to his name in the 1-20 to 0-19 extra-time win and Bonner told The Irish Independent: "Austin is in his first year playing Fitzgibbon and sometimes it takes a second year (student) time to get into the intensity of it.

"Sometimes he looks so skilful and you picture him in the summer time but he's able to work hard too.

"He pulled off some tremendous catches under pressure and put over points under pressure."

Bonnar will be hoping for more of the same from Gleeson in this evening's decider against UL.
