Leitir Mhór 6-4 Oughterard 7-18

Oughterard maintained there unbeaten run with a comprehensive defeat of Leitir Mhór played this evening. Oughterard won the toss and played with the wind in the first half. Things started out badly as the hugely impressive full forward for Leitir Mór Warren Seoighe scored 1-1 in a flash. When wing back Rónan O Ráinne banged in another goal the Oughterard lads looked in trouble. The lads kept their cool and despite some early misses soon got in their rythm with points from James Webb and goals from Adam Tierney and Dillon Fitzpatrick. Captain Daragh Creighton soon had the measure of Seoighe limiting him to a point. Meanwhile the Oughterard midfield and forwards reeled off a string of scores leaving the half time score of Leitir Mhór 2-3 Oughterard 4-9. (The other goals came from James Webb and Oisín Fleming. Fleming's goal was created by a brave interception from Bayden Thompson.)

Oughterard continued where they left off in the second half. They did take the foot off the gas at times and let Leitir Mhór in for some goals. But there was no question of the best team on the night with the final score of Leitir Mhór 6-4 Oughterard 7-18. 2nd half goals were scored by Daragh Creighton (2) and a lovely chip over the goalie from Seán Geoghegan.

Bryan Molloy made some crucial saves on his return with Seán McDonagh having another fine game in the corner. Daragh Creighton was again impressive in defence and attack. Brian Walsh at centre back held the middle well used the ball smartly. James Webb and Luke Fitzpatrick continue to impress at midfield and defended well when they had to while up front Oisin Fleming Adam Tierney and Bayden Thompson were a thorn all night in Leitir Mhór's side.

Footnote;

We must also thank the Leitir Mór manager who generously lent his boots to one of the Oughterard players who had forgotton his. He probably will rue his decision as the same player went on to score 2-6 against the home side!!!!
