Welcome back Dell.
Don't think they are in the same league as Dublin Mayo or Kerry. Good mix of youth and experience. However lack of a free taker and inconsistent scoring forwards are massive set backs.

If Tyrone had Murphy and McBrearty I'd give them every chance. I just don' think they have that explosive forward capable of a 1-3 or -1-4 blast from play against the bigger teams.

I agree with all of this it will take something very special to stop this current Tyrone team from dominating for the next 2/3 years.
With Dublin starting to tire it seems like we will be the team to beat this year.

For me there are really only ourselves and Dublin as genuine all Ireland contenders. Then you have Kerry, Donegal and maybe Mayo as maybes who could all the way, but for Me Tyrone are fast becoming a better version of the current Dublin team

Tyrone are definitely in a very good place, nice blend of youth and experience and got serious pace in their team. If they have an Achilles heel it has to be the lack of a consistent free taker. If I remember correctly they had 5 different free takers in a championship game last year. I disagree with some of the above posts that they don't have some great forwards, just that none of them are consistent with frees, however some great forwards from open play. Like Donegal, they play such a defensive game that it is difficult for their forwards.

Hard to see it. They had a golden opportunity last year and they didn't take it. A lot will depend on the way they try to close out games.

As a Tyrone man I just don't get the optimism over this Tyrone team We have some brilliant Individual Footballers but some very ordinary ones also. The loss of Connor will be sorely felt and unless we change how we are set up then there will be no Silverware of any kind (I don't count McKenna cup). If truth be told over the past two years our management has overseen missed opportunities to make an All Ireland final which could have maybe made a difference . I hope I'm wrong but I wont expecting a long summer ahead

If Lee Brennan can make the breakthrough and become a starter for Tyrone this season, their free taking woes will be solved. He's good, he's very good. That's a big 'if'. I think he's a great player but we'll see what happens there.

If not, I can see them retaining Ulster but going out something similar to the year prior at Croker. The lack of a 10/10 free taker kills them at the very top level.

I would love to see Lee Brennan break through this year and I hope the under 21's does not hold him back. At this stage I might be more inclined to back Tyrone to win the league at 5/1 as they have four home game and Mickey always takes the league seriously.

Lee Brennan sounds like someone to watch out for this year. From what I've gathered, he hasn't been given a fair shot in the first fifteen under Harte. But with McAliskey out for the year it would be foolish not to give him his chance. Goals and a freetaker is what Tyrone need most and I hear Brennan can do both pretty well. If the las can live up to those responsibilities I dont think Tyrone will be far away, but its a big if.

Agree dublin are miles ahead of Tyrone. Not much between tyrone, mayo and kerry. Mayo only won last year due to the extra player and tyrone missing frees. In the last 5 mins tyrone had enough chances but didn't take them. Would fancy tyrone against kerry.

It's Kerry v Tyrone for the 2017 All Ireland Final, Mayo showed how to stop Dublin, only for defence mistakes giving away soft scorable frees (and a few dodgy ref decisions) Mayo should have beaten Dublin twice in 2016, I expect Tyrone to have plenty in the tank and tactics to beat Dublin in the semi final. Will they win Sam I don't know I have been saying that 3 years is too long for Kerry without Sam

Mayo showed everyone how to beat Dublin, by being beaten by them? :)

Do you honestly think Mayos game plan hasn't been picked away atall winter by the Dublin Backroom team, it only took them two weeks to crack it post the first all Ireland never mind a few months of analysis.

Mayo beat themselves in the first match, remember two own goals?

They will obviously have new plans if they get that far again.

Wow that's some statement...a better version of this Dublin Team!!!!!! Don't have the forwards, can't kick there frees and too defensive..overly reliant on 2 or 3 players. I don't get the optimism about this Tyrone team can't see them winning ulster let alone an all kreland

Tyrone should win Ulster but would expect to again lose in Croke in Quarter/Semi Final.

Lots of good players like Peter Harte and Niall Sludden, but can't seem to score a free beyond 40 yards. That means a 3 or 4 point deficit against every top team come the top games.
