Surprised no thread on this. What do you think his legacy will be? Main points from his time in charge off the top of my head Super 8/Hurling round robin. Strengthening financial position. Paraic has been a steady hand on the tiller during his 10 years in guiding the Association. Some will bemoan some of the changes - like the SKY deals and the Super 8 but he has kept the GAA real and modern and it is vital for the future for keeping the GAA in the modern world where it needs to be. Its easy to criticise but true administrators cajole along their association so that subtle but necessary change is brought in. The GAA is very traditional in many ways but it has held its own in staying relevant in the modern world. Duffy has been very personable and has shown that he has had the mettle to bring the traditionalists along with him. That takes charm and ability to persuade the many who wish to stay where it is comfortable - in the past. On taking up the post originally he was interviewed on RTE & said that he wanted to better the scene of the clubs & club players, his actions have been the complete opposite, never has the plight of the clubs & club players been worse, he has left a mess behind. He & the current Uachtaran have ensured the advance of elitism & professionalism within the GAA, much to its detriment. The only improvement in our game was the introduction of the intermediate and junior All Ireland club championships, every other decision for county teams has been money driven, the sky deal, the super 8, the splitting of the qualifiers into A and B and played on 2 different weekends clogging up the calendar where no club games can be played, the plan of moving the All Ireland Final both in hurling and football from September to August, the same 4 or 5 referees over the All Ireland semi finals and final for the past 8 or 9 years, the lob sided GAA funding plan creating a machine (Dublin) against 32 other counties/ teams riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 21/10/2017 22:51:47 2056902 Link

Its hard to effect change in a small club with so many people all with their own views on how something should be done....at a national level it must border on impossible. In fact, it is a mess. There is absolutely no consensus across the board (and no direction from Croke Park) on who can play Junior or Intermediate football.
