Cant argue with that culmore. Listening to the commentary on the local radio it was clear that without Andy Moran we would certainly have lost.

While we are no world beaters I think some of the local ale had an impact.

Connacht is very poor at the moment everyone knows that. Since Galway won their last All Ireland in 2001 we have won three U-21 All-Ireland's (2002, 2005 and 2011) and a minor title in 2007. Until Galway appoint someone like Alan Mulholland or Kevin Walsh to take over the senior team it'll be the same old story. They know all about the underage talent in the country especially Mulholland who was the winning manager for the U-21's this year and the minor team in 2007. Hopefully the county board will see sense but I wouldn't hold my breath. .

As for Mayo I really hope James Horan dosen't employ this defensive football bringing the corner forward and play in front of the full back line. Mayo never played that way before, their players coming up through the underage teams never played like that. Look at Joe Kernan's disastrous year in charge of Galway.

Here's hoping that we can get back on the winning trail again. . Gallaimh Abu. .

We did it. We turned over a team with a selection pool bigger than our entire country. A great day.

Clubstar.

West Mayo had a team that did okay last year in the championship. They wanted to be involved this year and were voted out in congress. Westport were the main opponents. With this kind of stuff what do you expect.

Thats how he managed Ballintubber to the County championship by playing a defensive sweeper. It doesnt work, Armagh threw away that strategy against Down and look at the football they played.

Fair enough lads but sligo are not considered a top team, Mayo are, were not aiming for An ALL Ireland ye are, WE have only 24-26 clubs in sligo ye have 55-60 I think we punch above are weight most of the time, Ye should be hammering teams like London, YE had one of the best club championchips in Ireland a few years ago Sligo clubs feared ye now yer not even top 2 in connaght,Ye really do have a problem lads Ye havnt replaced Brady,Nallen,Heaney,ONeill all born leaders yer looking to Freeman,Doherty,Vaughan to lead good players but all to young to lead a county team. Also all top teams in ireland have 2-3 players top players who can by themselves win games Ye dont have anyone near that standerd Dillons a good player not a great one ,ye had one of them a few years ago a man called Ciaran McDonald outstanding, top 5 players in Ireland who really could win a game on his own Ye dont seem to be producing players like him anymore, i started this By saying can ye win an All Ireland in the next 10 years lads its gonna be 30-40 years Good luck

Surprisingly written by Farmer.2 have to agree with him on this one

Yes paddy im well aware that west-Mayo had a team made up off Junior teams. But i think that it should become made up of the best junior AND intermediate players in the 4 divions of N,S,E,W. If your good enough then you will make it. Being honest WM last year had some fine players in the like of the Feeneys from you club and Clougherty and a few like that but there were still a couple of lads that were very average. It would defrnetlly strenghten the championship in Mayo and I would guarentee you would find a few players that would be worthy of a run on the county set-up. Look, senior club championship is the penicle in anyones club career, and for clubs in the lower teams that maay only have on or two excellent players would work, wok and work somemore to make their respective divisional team to play senior championship. I cannot emphasise enough the way it works in Kerry and Cork

Not wishing to disrespect London but some county and club teams do see this as a weekend away to unwind and sip a few beers.

In his defence he actually said that Mayo wouldn't be arrogant enough to be talking about a Mayo Galway game before they played London somewhere on another thread...

a great well done to mayo on their terrific win yesterday- london would have beaten a lesser team than mayo but the cream always rises as we say out west. the same bitterness hatred and jealousy is still alive in the gaa as this thread suggests- im begining to think that most people on here simply check the results on aertel so they can use anything they find for a slagging match- sad people but sure you will always have a few.

Mayo and Galway in Castlebar is just what Connacht football needs at this moment. Hope to god it will be one of the clashes of the season. Mayo were better off scraping with a few to spare over London rather that slaughtering them. I heard Michael Meehan might not be fit for the game but there is plenty of talent in this Galway side and they have the boost of the U21's aswell. As James Horan said after the match yesterday, ''this form goes out the window" ...
