Maybe that's the problem with Connacht teams, they think the League actually matters. Enjoy your second rate Championship boys, doubt either of you will go far enough to get the chance to meet the might of Tyrone but if you do I hope you enjoy the day out :)

If it makes you feel better Horseoutside. Even your glourious leader Mickey Harte used the league as a barometer to guage that Tyrone are not one of the top sides anymore.

http://hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=147854

"We are in the chasing pack. Let's be real about that. We are not a top team,"

"We didn't play our football in the top division. We didn't even get out of Division 2, so it would be wrong for us to think we're anywhere other than the chasing pack.

Hail, Hail!

Again laser, the words success and trophies are not what is being argued. As I have already pointed this out I can only assume that you are aware of this but rather than admit defeat you keep repeating it. Why bother? Are you really so childish?

Pomeroy, mayo dethroned tyrone at the height of their powers, what does that say about tyrone?

It says Mayo are the team of the decade.

Brilliant comments from Mickey Harte, relieves the pressure on the players and lets Tyrone go in under the radar. Exactly what I'd expect from the greatest coach in the history of the GAA

Mayo to win it. Rossies and Sligo not too far behind. God only knows with Galway this year- could win Sam, could crash out in the first round of the qualifiers, their U21s look like a serious outfit.

I think roundball has called it right. Except I doubt that Galway could win Sam. I'm praying we give it a good rattle, but our usual problems from the last few years means that we won't go too far eg lack of midfield. And I agree about the U21's, hopefully the future will be brighter for the Galway footballers.

Hey Walter Mitty, go and infect other threads with your tripe. This one is about the Connacht championship.

I don't know Wests awake. The footballers are a quare animal. If they can get past Mayo and then win Connacht the trip up to Croker might suit them. Once they get on a run it''ll take a good team to stop them.

As for the best Connacht team of the decade, surely the only question to ask would be who has won Sam in the last 10 years - Galway. Who has won the most Nestor Cups in the last 10 years - again Galway.

Now surely this isn't that hard to grasp. Mayo have done well getting to 2 finals in the recent past but surely you'd rate it on trophies won. And in that sense Galway are the team...

Well luckily for ye and your midfield problem your U21 midfield looked exceptional. Made that guy McKiernan look very ordinary.

Head to head Galway V Mayo, we have beaten you more times. Whats hard to get about that? I find it ironic that Galway fans are fighting this battle on here but when it comes to attending matches are no where in sight even for an all Ireland final such as the one against Cavan.

My god this thread has taken a nose dive since my last visit! & why do we have a Tyrone fan making fun of our proud province? afterall it's not long ago Tyrone had zero All Irelands to their name.

At the moment this is how I rank Connacht.

1. Mayo
2. Roscommon
= Galway
= Sligo
5. Leitrim
6. London
7. New York

I couldn't agree more with your comments there. You'd have to laugh at the people from Dublin and Tyrone who have posted on this thread, you'd think they were winning All-Irelands every year.

totally agree. Tyrone suppoters seem to have forgotten their past history. they are nothing special at the moment though so I wouldnt be too worried. They dont have half the history that Mayo, Galway and Roscommon have. will be a long time before they reach a final again.

Talking about the actal thread I see Galway as a huge threat this year. Mayo always are. You have to remember that Galway were ravaged by injuries the past few years. Id say they will win Nestor if we dont.

laser, like it or lump it, mayo have been the best team in connaght over the last decade.

No clearly they have not. You refer to the word "best" as getting the furthest. What good is that without success? In 50 years time when you look back at the results from 2001 - 2011 the team who gets to the quarter finals and semi finals are not remembered, only the teams who not only get to the final but win. So therefore, Galway have been the best team in Connacht over the last decade. We have won 1 all ireland final and 5 Connacht's, Mayo have won 3 Connachts. And yes I know what your going to say next "Did i mention anything about success?" but its no good saying we've done better than ye outside of Connacht without winning. And as for Mayo beating Galway 8-7 in the last 15 games, how many of those were championship and actually matter? And many many of those are league games which will be forgotten? Like it or lump it Galway have been the best team in connaght over the last decade. Gaillimh abú
