its funny anyone from leinster calling another proviencial title meaningless- 8 tokens from a cornflakes box is enough to get ya a leinster medal- god but i love taking a few thousand off gullible dubs every year on betfair. only cert in sports is laying the dubs- hopefully the media will hype up the hurlers too and there will be even more money in my pocket. in football terms galway and mayo would view getting the dubs in the championship as getting a easy draw- but hey lads ye keep reading the hearld- sure they definately areent telling ye what ye want to hear to sell papers- a newspaper would never do that, neither would paddy power put the dubs at shorth odds every year to convince ye that ye have a change- the word gullible is completelty wasted on our dublin friends :

liathroidboy i don't read the herald if i need to know anything about Dublin Gaa

i just read your posts..

928741 Did I say most connaght titles laser? Or did I say best team in connaght? We have consistently gone the furthest in the championship over the last 10 years. Im not trying to make it into a mayo v galway thread, but merely showing you the error in your ways

----

10 years ago we won the All-Ireland. Maybe pick 8 or 9 years as your point of reference

well the master i dunno how ye measure success up in mayo but in all other counties the best team is the one that wins the most, i.e. galway and not mayo.

Again laser, did I say 'most all-irelands'? No. The term, over the last 10 years refers to the entire period, not the first year only. It is like saying blackburn rovers have been the best team in the EPL from the north of england just because they won a league way back when, excluding utd of course. does that make sense?

It is as simple as this laser, mayo have consistantly got further than galway in the AI over the last ten years. This is my point. What part of that dont you understand? galway havent even made a semi-final since 2001

We know that Mayo have reached two all Ireland finals since 2000. The results speak for themselves.
Galway appeared in the finals in 2000 and 2001. They resoundingly beat Meath. They drew with Kerry while down two players, Ja Fallon and Tomas Mannion, and Kevin Walsh (he played for about 2/3rds of the first game) was carrying a serious enough injury. They won the 9th of their all Irelands in the last decade.
It is difficult to understand how Mayo could consider themselves more successful than Galway in the last decade as they have not won a final since the early 1950's. Galway have won six of their nine titles since then.

Mayo and Galway can Argue till the cows come home about who was better down through the years. It doesnt get away from the fact that Roscommon are the team of this decade in Connacht

I'm not getting into this arguement because I think its pretty clear that Mayo and Galway have been pretty even in the last decade but you cant be bringing up things about how many All-Irelands Galway won since Mayo's last one in an arguement about the last decade!

calm down son, a poster on here is fishing for the rise and he has caught you. nobody in the real world thinks that. all that i know is EVERY year i hope against hope this could be it. i know the record of our county. its bad but its better than most counties in ireland.

Oggy, for some reason, you have forced the word successful into the equation. I never mentioned trophies, I said mayo have gotten further than galway pretty much every year in the last 10 years. That shows they have been a better side, plain and simple. If galway are so much better, then why havent they even reached a semi final since 2001? In that same period mayo have been to two finals and were cheated out of another semi spot by the worst performance i have ever seen from a referee (meath game). Mayo were the only connaght team flying the flag in the latter stages for the last 10 years. I dont see how talking about Ja Fallon changes that.
As I already pointed out, blackburn rovers collected a league trophy since liverpool last collected one, does that mean blackburn have been a better team since then?

Using Nordie Logic its not about how many competitions you won its the head to heads that count. So Including FBD league, national league and championship matchs since the year 2000. Mayo and Galway have played 15 Times. Mayo have won 8 of those matches while Galway have won 7.

ok master ill say this as clear as i can again. Success is measured in trophies and cups.
Galway 5 connacht titles in the last DECADE.
Mayo 3 Connacht titles in the last DECADE.

Lads please keep the petty arguments to a minimum, it's embarrassing. Both Mayo and Galway are useless, have been for a number of years and will be for the foreseeable future. Roscommon won Connacht last year for God's sake, that says it all

Mayo to win it. Rossies and Sligo not too far behind. God only knows with Galway this year- could win Sam, could crash out in the first round of the qualifiers, their U21s look like a serious outfit.
