Here here Irish Gael. There's two teams we know of that are not afraid of the Dubs. One is kerry and the other is Tyrone. Only for those two we may as well just hand over the Sam Maguire at a ceremony in Croke Park without a game. Teams must have a back bone and that's what it's all about. When two teams cross the white line it's 15 against 15.

Watching the games today highlights the benefits of Pauric Duffy's new 'Super 8' idea - which will bring highly competitive games and gripping excitement. For anyone who doubted it, today's games provided undeniable proof. Oops! maybe I've got that wrong.

It was no surprise today's game went the way it did. Monaghan had no real form coming into the game, certainly not form enough to trouble the Dubs in August in Croke Park. I posted earlier I thought it might be a double figure defeat. Makes you really wonder what sort of a farce the Super 8 is going to be next year. Poor quarter finals on the whole this year. The GAA needs to invest around the country in better coaching to try level things out or the Championship will die on it's feet. kildare73 (Kildare) - Posts: 854 - 05/08/2017 22:57:38 2029519 Link 0 |
Oh Jack off, jack off, jack off... Dear oh dear oh dear... Calling you a broken record does you no justice all... At this stage you are beyond medication for your anti-Dublinitis... Sad really... Cheer up please. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3684 - 05/08/2017 23:12:26 2029527 Link 1 |
Dublin not out of first gear today and handily beating the second best team in Ulster. The Dubs will step it up a couple of notches now. Tyrone can expect a much tougher proposition the next day than what they have faced to date.

Nothing that we haven't put to bed previously. I expect that the Dubs will be relentless in the semi and Connolly's return will give them another 10%.

2nd best team in ulster??? They're Antrim with a top class forward. Tyrone will be all sorts of levels above them and ye will most definitely have your work cut out to beat them! cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4978 - 06/08/2017 03:19:23 2029576 Link 1 |
Nobody with half a memory will remember them as the greatest. Scraping past the worst Kerry team in a generation (up to this year) isn't a sign of a great team. It's amazing the lack of genuine perspective shown by some when it comes to analysing this Dublin team. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4978 - 06/08/2017 03:29:51 2029577 Link 0 |
Dublin haven't had a close and thrilling match since the league final. Gone are the days where you'd have amazing atmospheres for Dublin games from round 1 onwards in leinster. I'm surprised Dublin fans are so happy with the way things are. You have no chance of a real match before the semi final stage. We grew up on an epic championship in leinster and it's now gone for good. I like 90% of leinster gaa fans have stopped caring for the championship. The crowds travelling to games from non Dublin leinster counties have plummeted. So I think it's fair to say I'm not crying about the current situation. I'm just pointing out facts. Rugby/soccer/hurling is now 10 times more exciting then gaa at County level in leinster. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 06/08/2017 04:21:03 2029581 Link 1 |
People using today's results to have a go at Super 8. Mike Patton (Monaghan) - Posts: 82 - 06/08/2017 07:48:18 2029589 Link 1 |
Monaghan like galway last week needed to be braver and take all their early chances to have any chance. Dubs were good but not tested. Very disappointed with the playacting of Cooper and McCaffrey in getting McManus and Hughes booked. If it was Tiernan McCann, people would be waxing lyrical about it. It for me was disgusting, needs to be called out and both Dublin players should have been booked. Referee was poor in falling for it. galwaydublin (Galway) - Posts: 226 - 06/08/2017 09:00:09 2029597 Link 0 |
Bit like Kilkenny or Kerry's dominance. Why would we not be happy? We have the pleasure of going out and watching one of the greatest teams to ever play the game show off their talent and we're picking up trophies. Kerry and Mayo can compete and beat, Dublin, if others can't then they need to lift their game.

In fairness 35 league and championship games unbeaten speaks for itself. By any measure this is an outstanding team packed with massive talent. They don't need to prove anything to anyone. Their fantastic record speaks for itself.

It doesn't say much for Ulster then I'm afraid. Lots of people stating that they fancied Monaghan before yesterday. We'll get the same now about Tyrone. They're a good side no doubt but Dublin's backs are top drawer and we have forwards to heavily damage any team, no matter how many shirts they put behind the ball. Having said that anything could happen on the day.

They are looking to win their 5th All-Ireland of the 7 played for this decade. They had the longest unbeaten record in the history of the game. If they are not involved in any conversation discussing the greatest teams of all time then it's not a conversation worth listening to. Dublin fans tend to be genuine football lovers so I'd expect most of them to admit that Cooper was an embarrassment to the jersey yesterday.

All the talk about the decline of Leinster and we go out yesterday and produce (an unexpected from my pov) turkey shoot akin to a Leinster game. I have to say, Dublin were good, really good at times and Im absolutely delighted in that regard that we are in an 8th semi final in a row, a wonderful achievement, having said that, I was absolutely disgusted with Monaghan's performance. It was pathetic. This same Monaghan team had Dublin on the ropes in Clones not that long ago in the league. To give us the amount of room they did, to allow us to play and dictate the game on our terms was naïve in the extreme and extremely disappointing. A lot of people will talk about Dublin and our advantages... Kerry and tyrone, Mayo also don't have the same advantages we have but they wont allow themselves to lie down and be bullied and take their defeat or be mentally beaten before the game is thrown in.. They will at least be competitive until the very end, At least Armagh have an excuse in that they played division 3 football last year and hadn't played a D1 team up until yesterday, What can Monaghan come up with to excuse that muck ? They where ahead by 7 at one stage against us in the league and don't give me league/championship is different BS cause at the stage we played them, (last group game) they would have well been in championship phase gearing up for games like yesterday, That game in April should have shown they absolutely can compete with Dublin and they didn't. Its inexcusable that Carlow can put up more of a fight and lay more of a hand on this Dublin team than Monaghan did yesterday. Dublin Kerry and Tyrone are getting to unreal levels and other teams will moan about the top 3 or 4 pulling away, Criminal from Monaghan. They are better than what they showed yesterday and that there is the most frustrating aspect. I expected so much more, what a let down. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 06/08/2017 10:57:05 2029662 Link 0 |
