Mayo vs Roscommon

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Both sides can play a lot better, the question is will they. Mayo good in the second quarter, but spluttered through the rest. Rossies showed a lot of resilience to hang in when my own county couldn't find the killer blow. Not sure what Kerry would have done with either, as both achieved greater intensity, even if it lacked precision, than two sides in the first game. Another break now for the Kingdom, but no rest for the wicked.

Mayo never throw in the towel or give up....we supporters can't really ask for more. I believe we will win the replay

I believe you're right, I think Roscommon missed the boat, Mayo are surviving this championship by the skin of their teeth, could there be something in this?

Hard to say...we could bomb out of win it? Until Mayo actually cross the line doubts will remain but they will win or die out there together and as I say we can't ask for more from ameteur players.

Roscommon played very well, they have a makings of a great team there. Even if some of their supporters annoyed me with their abuse towards Andy Moran. No place for it in the GAA

I love this team and I've only been to Mayo once in my life so I can only imagine how Mayo people feel about them!

They've got character in spades and are a team to be proud of!

Enjoyable game but lets face facts, neither of these teams will lay a glove on Kerry.

Roscommon had great hunger; some excellent play. Thought overall they were slightly the better team. It'd be great for football if they went through.

So it'll be another final appearance for Kerry

Not a very good standard there today but Roscommon have a very young and inexperienced at this level team, so that was a good game for a lot of them.

Mayo have no excuses.

That's the worst I've seen them apart from Keegan's performance and well even at that.. that was def an OG.

Really poor up front. They just don't have what it takes. Don't give them frees and they won't score enough

That Mayo team won't win an AI and many of them are out of their peak now.

They might still make a semifinal but that'll be that for this Mayo side.

Their time has come and passed. The best Mayo side of all time will not be winning Sam.

Very poor from Mayo again today on the pitch and on the line. Doesn't say much for the Rossies either. Mayo look like a team ready to be put out of it's misery. Cafferkey so far out of his depth this year it isn't even funny anymore. Dublin and Kerry streets ahead at the moment.

Awful game today in terms of the standard of shooting and general forward play, it was Division 2 or Division 3 stuff at times.

But credit to both teams for not giving in. Roscommon defended admirably throughout and were very unlucky to concede that goal. But I think they left it behind them by missing so many good chances. I expect Mayo to be sharper than the Rossies in front of goal the next day and edge it by a few points.

It was poor standard despite the excitement. A Kerry man I met was laughing at the end. He might be right but sure if we can't hope what's the point?

Brolly and co talks about respect in the game yet dismiss the Connacht teams...if it's only about the champions what the hell are we all doing? Btw yew_tree was home in 3 hours...a record ? ;)

Great game by both these teams today, well done to both. it's been great to see mayo for the second week in a row.

Lee keegan showed why he's the player of the year, what a fantastic player 1.03 from wing back.

Roscommon played some lovely stuff and I thought they were the better side throughout. They are very good footballers with great handling skills and their movement is excellent at times. Whether they win the win the replay or not the future of Roscommon football looks very, very healthy. OK it wasn't Brazil 1970 today but a very enjoyable game all the same. Spillane was a bit unfair in his negative comments.

I think the Sunday game pundits were very hard on Roscommon. It was their first quarter final in awhile and they rattled Mayo who are far more experienced team than them.

In fairness to Mayo they never give up and Roscommon had them on the hook.

Whoever prevails the next day will be the better for these two matches ahead of a semi final.
