If rumours are true regarding Johnny Cooper, our chances a lessened somewhat I would say. Hopefully things are patched up but there's a few forwards around the country who wouldn't be too unhappy if Cooper wasn't involved, that's for sure! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8584 - 30/05/2017 22:01:06 1992420 Link 0 |

Why out of the 4 years that the A and B side of the Qualifiers have the Ulster Preliminary Round losers been in the A side only once and the B side 3 times? Would you not expect it to be year about i.e. 2 years of the A side and 2 of the B side after 4 years of it or is that not how they work out who goes in the A and B and it is more complicated than that? Ulster is not as competitive as it was but compared to the other provinces it's still the toughest to win. In Ulster there are three genuine contenders Tyrone, Donegal & Monaghan. Leinster & Munster have only one each while Connacht have two. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 31/05/2017 13:25:50 1992616 Link 1 |
How in the name of God can a championship with three genuine contenders be "one sided"?

Ah now come on - to be fair to Mayo, Connacht have 2.5 or 3 contenders: 1) Galway 2) Rossies 3) Mayo The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 705 - 31/05/2017 14:46:21 1992668 Link 2 |
Although Ulster's competitiveness can be overstated at times it is still probably the most competitive province, as it is generally just not to the extent that is sometimes stated. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13704 - 31/05/2017 14:57:40 1992674 Link 0 |
Nobody said that antrim or fermanagh or the others are competitive in ulster but to have 3 (i would include cavan aswell) genuine contenders is fairly competitive compared to the other provincials! achara (Monaghan) - Posts: 561 - 31/05/2017 15:23:55 1992685 Link 0 |

I think by the time our provincial Finals are over we will have a fair idea where the 4 all Ireland semi finalists are likely to come from. Until then it's only guess work. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 02/06/2017 11:54:52 1993467 Link 0 |

Yeah there's three this year that can win it in Ulster, but you could also say if kildare, Meath, Cork and Tipperary were in ulster they would be contenders and fancy there chances.

So Mayo, Tipp, Clare, Cavan and another two of the Div 1 Ulster teams will end up in the qualifiers, championship bubbling up nicely. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 11/06/2017 17:51:24 1997960 Link 0 |
