Tom Quinn was bestowed the title of senior footballer of year at the recent Castleknock GAA celebration night in the Castleknock Hotel after a fairytale season for the club.

Ciarán Kilkennys club, who were long odds to reach their first county final impressed all with their championship run which was only halted by the illustrious St. Vincents in the final. Wins over Oliver Plunketts, St.Judes and Skerries propelled the club, still a teenager in years, into the spotlight and on to the sports pages.

Quinn, a product of Castleknock's juvenile section, was assigned some of the tougher tasks last year including that of Diarmuid Connollys minder in the county final.

Presenting the award Castleknock coach Kevin Stritch praised Quinn and the team for their efforts in a year in which quiet determination was the hallmark of their success.
