Limerick hurling is motoring now!

Limerick Motor Centre is the new sponsor of the Limerick senior hurling championship.

History is being made in Limerick this year as the Treaty County’s premier hurling competition becomes known as the Hyundai Limerick Motor Centre County SHC.

Celebrating 25 years as main Hyundai dealer for Limerick city and county, Limerick Motor Centre has been providing local motorists with a stellar service for over half a decade.

With the Hyundai brand really capturing the public’s imagination, this is a very exciting time in the illustrious history of the dealership – which is reflected in the new partnership with Limerick GAA.

Ideally situated on the Ballysimon Road, Limerick city – just two kilometres from the M7 – Limerick Motor Centre is a family business, fronted by the O’Mara family. It is also Ireland’s longest-established main Hyundai dealership, with a mutually-beneficial relationship that now spans a quarter of a century.

Sales manager Gerry O’Brien explained to hoganstand.com: “Pat O’Mara is the founder and owner, and he is joined in running the business by his three sons – Martin, Robert and Pat Jnr. Business is going very well as the moment and we’re delighted to be able to provide employment locally to a team of 16.

“We feel honoured and privileged to be a Hyundai dealership as Hyundai is making tremendous progress and is currently the fastest-growing car brand in Ireland. Hyundai had 9% of the market in January, 2013, and is now going toe to toe with the Toyota, Ford and Volkswagen, which represents massive progress. This is a huge achievement and just shows how far Hyundai has come in recent years.”

The perception of Hyundai cars as a cheap alternative is long gone. To the contrary, the Korean manufacturer’s vehicles are now highly regarded for their quality, efficiency, versatility and stunning looks.

“Hyundai now has a fantastic, exciting range of cars, starting with the i10, which was launched in September, 2007, and also incorporating the i20, i30 petrol and diesel, the i40 saloon and tourer, the ix20 mini SUV and the ix35 SUV,” Gerry notes. “The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe has also just been launched – a 2.2 litre diesel engine with 197 brake horse power and road tax starting from just €396 per year.”

Hyundai vehicles come with an unrivalled five-year unlimited mileage warranty across the range as well as five-year AA membership and five-year vehicle healthcare. “The unlimited warranty is ideal for fleets who are clocking up big mileage and will be completely covered right through to the end of year five,” says Gerry. “The service intervals have also gone out to 30,000km, so all in all the efficiency of a Hyundai cannot be matched.”

As for Limerick Motor Centre’s generous sponsorship of the 2013 Limerick senior hurling championship, Gerry adds: “With Hyundai growing so rapidly and making such unprecedented progress, we wanted to put the Hyundai name on the kitchen table. We felt that the best way to do this would be to get involved in sponsorship, which would be seen throughout the county.

“And what better way than through the GAA? The GAA forms the backbone of every parish and this sponsorship provides the best possible shop window for Hyundai and Limerick Motor Centre.

“We’re happy with the partnership and we’re delighted to be supporting Limerick hurling. This is a new venture for Limerick Motor Centre and it’s an exciting one, so hopefully it will go to plan for both parties and prove mutually beneficial to all concerned.”
