Brian Dooher to visit St Benedict's Harps in Leeds

14 May 2012

Brian Dooher raises the Anglo Celt Cup at Clones.
Brian Dooher, Tyrone All-Ireland winning captain of 2005 & 2008, will be Special Guest the Annual Presentation Evening of St Benedict's Harps at Leeds Irish Centre on Friday night (18th May). Brian is coming over to present medals to the successful teams of 2011 including the Yorkshire Junior Championship Winners, Pennine League (Div2) Winners, and Yorkshire U21 Championship Winners. There is also the possibility that Brian could be taking the Yorkshire U14 Feile Team for a training session on Saturday morning - time permitting - before flying back to Tyrone for a club fixture on Saturday evening! Some tickets are still available for the event, priced reasonably at £20 - to include food and music on the evening also - and to secure yours please get in touch with Club Secretary Willy Mullan on 07974457391.

There is quite a large Tyrone contingent at St Benedict's with Secretary Willy Mullan (Omagh), Senior Football Manager Gerard Rodgers (Dungannon), and players Niall Toner, Sean McMahon and Neil Maguire. The bulk of the St Benedict's Senior Team is made up of players from the clubs successful underage with more than half the starting team for last seasons Pennine League Final being Leeds-born (see our Newsletters for match reports and pictures). Other counties represented in the squad during 2011 & 2012 include Armagh, Cavan, Cork, Derry, Donegal, Dublin, Fermanagh, Galway, Kilkenny, Laois, Mayo, Leitrim, Limerick, Offaly and Westmeath.

In the meantime however, a busy of schedule of training awaits both Youth & Adult players, while there are U16 & Senior games to be played on Sunday. If anyone is new to Leeds either for work or studies and would like to come along to the Presentation Evening or training/matches you will be made very welcome, and we are always interested to hear from new players and members from all backgrounds. Full contact details for club officers and club information is available online at both stbenedictsharps.intheteam.com and Facebook
