Waterford hold the advantage over Allianz Hurling League Division One final opponents Clare as both sides prepare for the clash in Thurles this Sunday.

Reigning champions, Waterford, bagged their spot in the finals with relative ease following a 3-23 to 1-18 win over Limerick and are 5/6 to retain the Dr Croke Cup.

Clare, like Waterford, secured a big win in their semi-final clash with Kilkenny, which they won 4-22 to 2-19. There have been many near wins in the Division 1 final for Davy Fitzgerald's side, who last featured in a final in 2001 and at present, they are the 6/5 slight outsiders.

The Dèise are priced at 8/11 to lift the cup whilst The Rebels are Even money shots. In the handicap betting, Waterford -1 is available at 11/10 with Clare +1 priced at 5/6. Waterford +1 is priced at the shorter odds of 4/6 whilst Clare -1 is on offer at 7/5.

Aoife Heffron, PR Executive for BoyleSports commented: "It is the first time Clare and Waterford will meet in a Division 1 final and tensions will no doubt be running high as the winner will secure bragging rights ahead of their Munster Championship semi-final clash."

She added: "The betting may be on Derek McGrath's side to win on Sunday, but punters have been rallying behind Clare at 6/5 making them the liability for the firm."
