Armstrong ruled out

July 18, 2006
Sean Armstrong will miss Galway's fourth round All-Ireland football qualifier against Westmeath on Saturday week. The Salthill attacker was carried off after scoring a point just before half-time in Sunday's Connacht final defeat to Mayo, and has been ruled out of the Westmeath game with a hamstring injury. Paul Clancy will be pressing for a return to the starting line-up after making a sensational return from a knee injury. The Galway hurlers, meanwhile, could be without David Collins for Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Kilkenny in Semple Stadium. The 2005 Young Hurler of the Year has been troubled with a hamstring injury recently and missed the Tribesmen's most recent outing against Westmeath. Manager Conor Hayes has ruled out a call-up for teenage sensation Joe Canning, who will instead line out for the Galway minors against Antrim in their All-Ireland quarter-final at Mullingar on Saturday.
