Galway fans can still remember it like it was yesterday.
On this day three years ago the west was very much awake as Joe Canning sent the Tribesmen into the All-Ireland SHC final with a sensational late point against Tipperary at Croke Park.
In what was a thrilling semi-final encounter at headquarters, the game was in the balance and a replay looked certain until the Portumna man’s intervention from along the sideline in the fourth and final minute of injury-time.
Galway went through on a 0-22 to 1-18 scoreline before going on to defeat Waterford and collect the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the first time in 29 long years.
