Kieran Donaghy will sit out Garvey's Tralee Warriors Super League basketball encounter with Maree tonight to ensure he is fresh and ready for Austin Stacks' Munster club SFC semi-final against Nemo Rangers at Pairc Ui Rinn tomorrow.

The Tralee club will represent Kerry in Munster as newly-crowned county champions East Kerry are a divisional team and therefore can't compete in the provincial club championship.

"He's the leader of the group," Stacks manager Wayne Quillinan said of 'Star' in an interview with RTE.

"Even when he was in the height of his Kerry career he was always a fantastic club man. He wears his heart on his sleeve when he has the black and amber on and is still doing the same thing.

"He will be a big part of us trying to get over the line on Sunday."

Despite having played only one game - against St Mary's in the league - since they were knocked out of the Kerry SFC by Dingle at the end of September, the Kingdom's club kingpins aren't going to Cork to make up the numbers.

"In any circumstances, it would be fantastic to make a Munster final. It would be great for this young side to get the experience of that type of run," Quillinan continued.

"It's going to be huge to get the experience of the game Sunday anyway and if you could get over the line there, another day out in Munster would bring us along as a team hugely.

"This is a way bigger step than anything we have encountered before, but it’s a great challenge to have and one you have to embrace."
