Sean Moran is confident that Con O’Callaghan could be back in action for Cuala before the year is out.

The Dublin football star suffered a nasty leg injury when St Brigid’s goalkeeper Alan Nolan clattered into him after he scored a goal in the fourth minute of Sunday’s Dublin SHC final at Parnell Park.

The 2017 and 2018 All-Ireland club champions are due to face St Mullin’s of Carlow in the first round of the Leinster club hurling championship on Sunday week. There were concerns that O’Callaghan might miss the provincial campaign but his team-mate Moran has moved to allay those fears:

“Con will be okay. He will be back to himself in a few weeks. He suffered a bit of a dead leg,” he told RTE. “I’ve not really been speaking to him, but no doubt we’ll see him again later on in the year.

“We’ll come down off our celebrations after the county title and regroup, refocus and look forward to the next challenge ahead of us. We know what we are capable of when we play well, having been there and having won two All-Irelands.”
