Wexford forward Aidan Nolan admits that it is a relief to have his two-game suspension reduced to one, meaning he is available for selection for Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Tipperary.
Nolan missed the Leinster SHC final win over Kilkenny due to a two-game suspension handed to him, after he had been sent off twice in the space of a few months.
However, one of those sending offs was handed out during the Fenway Classic in Boston, which is played under different GAA rules and Wexford contested that the competition should not be counted, which Croke Park chiefs agreed with.
He is now available for Sunday’s clash and the HWH-Bunclody clubman admitted to the Wexford People that it was great to be available.
“To have missed the Leinster final was a huge disappointment. To have put in nine months of training and being forced to sit out the final left me frustrated and disappointed,” said Nolan.
“Yes, it’s a massive relief. At the outset of all this I had accepted that Wexford would have to reach the All-Ireland final before I would be back, so you can imagine the relief and the excitement when the ban was reduced to one match.
“That was a huge boost for me, as it would have been so disappointing had I been forced to miss another huge game, after all those months of savage preparation.”
