Joey Holden says he and his Ballyhale Shamrocks team mates are facing into “a titanic battle” this Sunday when they meet St Thomas’ in the All-Ireland club SHC final.

The Shamrocks are gunning for their first Croke Park success since 2015, while their Galway counterparts were champions two years previous and Holden knows the Kilkenny giants will have a huge task ahead of them this weekend.

“It’ll be a titanic battle,” he told GAA.ie. “St Thomas’ have won two of the last three Galway titles, they got pipped by a point another year in one of the quarter-finals so they’re ultra-competitive in championship games, they won the club All-Ireland in 2013.

“I think overall Galway probably have the upper hand in the amount of club All-Irelands teams have won so they’re always competitive.

“We just hope we can match the experience that they have. I know they’ve a lot of lads, nine or 10 who would have played in the last All-Ireland, we don’t have as many so we hope we can match their experience and match their work rate and hopefully we’ll try and pip them at the end of the day.”
