The only man in the history of the GAA to win 10 All-Ireland senior hurling medals celebrates a milestone birthday today.

They say life begins at 40, but for Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin, an awful lot has already been achieved. In a remarkable playing career, King Henry became the championship's top scorer of all-time with 28-485, won a record-breaking 11 All Stars and was named Hurler of the Year on three occasions. He also has three All-Ireland SHC club and six Kilkenny SHC medals to his name, and is widely regarded as the greatest hurler of his generation.

Since hanging up his hurl, the RTE pundit has managed his beloved Ballyhale Shamrocks to county and provincial honours and now has his sights firmly fixed on bringing another All-Ireland back to the south Kilkenny village.

Happy 40th birthday, Henry!
