Busy schedule for Sligo dual star

Sligo's Gerard O'Kelly Lynch

Sligo dual star Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch faces a race against time on Saturday afternoon.

First up, O'Kelly-Lynch will travel to Croke Park with the Sligo hurlers as they prepare to face Lancashire in the Lory Meagher Cup final.

Throw in for that game is at 12pm and the dual star will have little time to celebrate or drown his sorrows after the game as he will travel back to Markievicz Park for the Sligo footballers' All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Armagh. Throw in time for this one is 6pm.

"Gerard will be playing the hurling first and we are hoping to get him to Markievicz Park as quick as we can," Sligo football manager Cathal Corey told the Sligo Champion.

"He has been training away the whole time with us and he is such a big player for us. We wish the hurlers the best of luck on Saturday too in the Lory Meagher Cup final, it is a big day to represent your county in Croke Park and we don't want to take that from Gerard and hope he will be back safely."
