Reaching the Super 8s or an All-Ireland SFC semi-final is not something that the Monaghan squad are looking ahead to as they take it one step at a time.

That is the reaction of defender Neil McAdam when asked by the Ulster Herald what is the target for the 2018 season.

First up for the Farney County is a meeting with defending champions Tyrone in the Ulster SFC. And McAdam stressed that they would be foolish to look beyond this game.

"A lot of people have been saying that about us but the way we work in our group, we wouldn't look by our next game. For us that's Tyrone, so therefore it's the most important game for us," said McAdam.

"You can't make a Super 8 or the All-Ireland semi-final unless you win the game that's in front of you. We're looking forward to getting out. It's a massive challenge, they'll be favourites having won back to back Ulsters."
